What is a Christian
in John 14:6 – Jesus answered....
'I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'
In answer to your question what is a Christian – a Christian focuses on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, and those who believe in Jesus and trust and follow His teachings are called Christians.
You may even have heard the term ‘Born Again’ or ‘Born Again Christian’. Being born again relates to Jesus' words in John 3:3 ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.’
'I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.'
'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'
John 6:35 contains the first of Jesus 'I AM' statements, for the others see John 8:12, 10:7–9, 11–14,
11:25–26, 14:6, 15:1, 15:5, and John 6:40 contains Jesus explanation of the process of personal salvation – 'For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.'
Jesus' use of the words 'eternal life' refers to continued life in Heaven after our death, where ‘there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain’ – Revelation 21:4.
Jesus' use of the word 'raise' refers to when all those who invite Jesus into their lives are raised up into Heaven and that all those people will have a new body to live in. 'We inwardly sigh as we live in these physical tents, longing to put on a new body for our life in heaven' – 2 Corinthians 5:2.
Jesus' also offers those who invite Him into lives fullness of life whilst here on earth 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.' – John 10:10.
