Heaven in Christianity

Jesus makes it very clear in John 14:6 that He was going to His Father in Heaven, and that He (Jesus) is the only way to the Father (Heaven). So Heaven is a real place but the Bible tells us that not everyone will make it there, only those who have trusted Jesus. Acts 4:12 'Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.' Likewise in 1 Timothy 2:3–6 'God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.'

So Jesus does not simply point us to the way – Jesus is the way!

Jesus statement in John 14:6, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' sweeps away any other notion of how we may get to heaven, like being good or doing good deeds Ephesians 2:8-9 'For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God –not by works, so that no one can boast.' There is only one way to Heaven and that way is Jesus, and for those who do believe in Him and invite Him into their lives, there is the assurance of a heavenly home at the end of life here on earth.
